The American Association for the Advancement of Science has polled its members and colleagues with a questionnaire intended to help inform a report to the United Nations committee that is currently developing an implementation framework for the right. survey

How is the right to enjoy the benefits of scientific progress and its applications relevant to your work?
I work with several hundred other engineers building measurement systems for digital enterprise. Software patents loom as a random and senseless threat to our business which we defend by investing non-productive time building our own random and senseless portfolio.
I also contribute openly to improved software methods and have seen my work employed as the foundation of Wikipedia where authors worldwide are foolishly denied access to the scientific literature.
